Deeper
What does it mean to go deeper in our relationship with God? It goes beyond the accumulating of knowledge and more towards a way of life in the example of Jesus. Deeper means that our love of Jesus grows stronger. Deeper means that our understanding and the overwhelming appreciation of the work of the cross infiltrates our soul. Deeper means less of me and more of Jesus. Here are some key areas to reflect on in this path to go deeper.
Crazy Love - Francis Chan
At the center of deeper is what Jesus refers to as the greatest command among all the laws...love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. The question that we have is, is this kind of love just about attending our Sunday gatherings? Is it just about giving a little bit each week to the mission of Jesus? Is it about a radical, revolutionary, counter culture, giving of ourselves to the person and cause of Jesus.
The Prodigal God by Tim Keller
The Prodigal God is a sermon series based off a book written by Tim Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. The story revolves around the story of the prodigal son, the elder brother and the Father in Luke 15. For many of us, our relationship with God has become more like the elder brother, where our faith is stale, where it becomes more about rules and things that we have done. Bua a faith that is alive is one that understands the depth of the grace of God in our lives and one where we no longer look to ourselves to gain acceptance, to earn love, and to find our own righteousness. This is one of the most important topics to address in the church today if we are going to make an impact in the next generation.

The Role of the Holy Spirit
For us to be deeper, Paul urges us to walk in the Spirit. For us to reflect the values and the character of God, we are called to bear the fruit of the Spirit. For us to experience the power of Jesus, we are to be filled with the Spirit. In other words, to experience the fullness of this journey with Jesus, to understand the transforming power that is within us and can be expressed through us, we must put our arms around what it means to depend on the Holy Spirit.
